Luz Hughes RGN

Specialist Nurse in Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain

Luz is a Specialist Nurse within the Centre for Endometriosis and Minimally Invasive Gynaecology (CEMIG) at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. With over 30 years of nursing experience spanning inpatient and outpatient services, she provides expert support, advice, and guidance to patients throughout their endometriosis care journey.

After qualifying as a nurse in the Philippines and beginning her career in obstetrics and gynaecology theatres, Luz joined Ashford and St Peter’s in 1999. She later gained extensive leadership experience in the private sector before returning to CEMIG in 2015.

Passionate about patient education and support, Luz leads a quarterly endometriosis support group open to all individuals affected by the condition, as well as their families and partners. In addition to her clinical role, she completed Surgical First Assistant (SFA) and Basic Surgical Skills training in 2020 and has later undertaken specialised robotic surgery training. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she played an important role in maintaining surgical services by assisting with complex endometriosis and gynaecological procedures.

Luz is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care and helping women with endometriosis feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout their treatment journey.

Paula Chaplin RGN

Paula qualified as SRN and Midwife in South Africa coming to the UK to work in Intensive Care in 1998. Later Paula moved to Genito-urinary Medicine and HIV at St Peters Hospital. In 2017 Paula became the Lead Nurse for Genital Pain and Dermatology joining the CEMIG team as a specialist nurse in 2018. Paula has a special interest in helping patients with painful intercourse and the greater impact it has on their lives and she is a passionate advocate for her patients.

MR Vasileios Minas

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Laparoscopic Surgeon

Mr Vasileios Minas is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician with a special interest in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. He is based at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Chertsey, Surrey.

Mr Minas completed his undergraduate medical training and doctoral research at the University of Crete, Greece. He subsequently undertook specialist training within the Oxford and Mersey Deaneries and developed advanced laparoscopic surgical skills at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest endometriosis centres in England.

He has a particular interest in the management of women with endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain and has published extensively in peer-reviewed international medical journals. He also completed formal training at the International School of Neuropelveology under the mentorship of Professor Marc Possover, the pioneer of Neuropelveology.

Mr Minas is one of only two consultants performing neuropelvic surgery at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which is currently the only NHS hospital offering this specialised service for patients with nerve-related endometriosis.

Renowned for his extensive surgical expertise, compassionate approach, and commitment to patient-centred care, Mr Minas is sought after by patients from across the UK as well as internationally.

In addition to his NHS practice, Mr Minas consults privately at Runnymede Hospital in Chertsey, Nuffield Health Woking Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor, and The Lister Hospital in London.

Mr Matthew Erritty MRCOG MBChB

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Clinical Lead, CEMIG

Mr Matthew Erritty is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Clinical Lead for the Centre for Endometriosis and Minimally Invasive Gynaecology (CEMIG).

He has specialist interests in endometriosis, complex benign gynaecology and minimally invasive surgery. His practice includes advanced laparoscopic, hysteroscopic and robotic surgery, including the surgical management of complex endometriosis.

Mr Erritty completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Bristol and subsequently trained in London, the South East of England and New Zealand. He completed advanced training in laparoscopic surgery for benign gynaecological disease at St Peter’s Hospital before being appointed as a Consultant.

As part of the CEMIG multidisciplinary team, he works closely with specialist nurses, colorectal and urological surgeons, radiologists, pain specialists and other colleagues in the assessment and treatment of women with endometriosis and pelvic pain.

He is also actively involved in the training of gynaecologists in minimally invasive surgery, clinical education and quality improvement.

Mr Michael Adamczyk

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

Mr. Michael Adamczyk is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Endometriosis Surgeon, specialising in advanced minimally invasive surgery, with a particular focus on the excision of endometriosis and pelvic nerve pathology.

His extensive training includes a fellowship in advanced endometriosis surgery, as well as accredited training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery for the Excision of Benign Disease (endometriosis), under the mentorship of renowned endometriosis expert Mr. Shaheen Khazali.

He had formal training in Neuropelveology, accredited by the International Society of Neuropelveology (ISON). This unique training allows him to treat patients with complex pelvic nerve conditions.

Mr. Adamczyk is also a council member for the International Society of Neuropelveology, contributing to advancements in education and innovation in this highly specialised area.

Mr. Adamczyk has been a BSGE council member since 2019 and currently serves as Chair for Website and Digital Governance within the society.
