Sharing Surgical Expertise on a National Stage:
St Peter’s Surgeons Live at BSGE ASM

On 2nd May, two of our CEMIG surgeons proudly represented St Peter’s Hospital at the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) in Leeds, showcasing their surgical expertise on a national stage.

Mr Adamczyk, Consultant Gynaecologist and Endometriosis Surgeon, and Mr Nissar Consultant Colorectal Surgeon performed a complex laparoscopic excision of severe endometriosis, including a discoid excision of full-thickness rectal disease. The surgery took place at St James’s University Hospital and was streamed live to the conference centre, where approximately 800 delegates attended the session.

In the neighbouring theatre, Professor Saridogan, current President of the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE), performed a laparoscopic cervical cerclage. At the same time, Mr Andrew Kent, past President of the BSGE, undertook a challenging laparoscopic hysterectomy.

It was a busy and rewarding week for our CEMIG team, who played an active role throughout the conference. Several of our consultants chaired multiple scientific sessions, and both Mr Adamczyk and Mr Minas contributed as faculty on the pre-congress surgical training courses, helping to educate the next generation of advanced laparoscopic surgeons.

We are especially proud of Mr Adamczyk, who is a Senior Council Member of the BSGE and has served on the Council for the past seven years, helping shape national direction in gynaecological endoscopy and endometriosis care.

Our current fellow, Miss Rizeq, and past residents also made an outstanding impression at the conference. The KSS (Kent, Surrey, and Sussex) residents swept all of the major surgical video prizes—a true testament to the quality of training provided at CEMIG. Congratulations to Flo Britton, who was awarded the prestigious Golden Telescope for Best Surgical Video, Kyle Fleisher for winning second place, and our very own Miss Rizeq, who earned third place.

CEMIG is widely recognised for setting national benchmarks in both surgical training and endometriosis care. As one of the oldest and largest NHS endometriosis centres in the UK, we are proud of our proven history of excellent surgical outcomes and of training residents and fellows who go on to become leaders in the field.

Endometriosis is a complex disease that requires a truly multidisciplinary approach—and it really does take a village to do it well. We are grateful to every member of our dedicated team who contributes to the care of our patients and the success of our centre.
